Information centre on the walls’ construction system
In August 2007, the Sant Pere bastion was opened to the public, in the northeast of the walled site, an area which has been turned into a museum with audiovisual displays that explain how the wall was built. This Renaissance fortified site that surrounded the city was designed by the engineer Giovanni Battista Calvi, who offered his services to King Philip II of Spain. One can see how it was possible to build something as huge as the walled enclosure, which has preserved its original 16th-century layout. A reproduction of the scaffolding system used for the works can also be seen.
