An example of rationalist architecture open to the public
Broner’s work can be found in various parts of the city, especially in the sailing districts and the port. This is his own house and it has been kept just how he designed it. On occasions it also hosts exhibitions of his artistic and architectural work as well as that of other contemporary designers.
Broner, of Jewish origin, was a student of Le Corbusier and he played an important role in the development of rationalist architecture on the island, along with other designers such as Josep Lluis Sert or Germán Rodríguez Arias. He became acquainted with Ibiza in the 1930s, while in exile from Hitler’s Germany. After paying various visits, he moved here definitively in 1959.
Casa Broner can be visited from Tuesday to Friday from 10 am to 4.30 pm, and on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am to 2 pm.
