The Archaeological Museum is the institution that preserves, carries out research on and exhibits the material remains of the historic past of the islands of Ibiza and Formentera. The classic authors differentiated these two islands from the Balearic Islands of Mallorca and Menorca by calling them the Pitiüses.
It is located in the high part of the old town – Dalt Vila – in Cathedral Square, together with the Castle, the Bishop’s house, the Papal Court’s house and the old Lodge today converted to “The Viewpoint” – from where one can see the lower part of town (the Marina), the harbour and the modern example.
The museum is temporarily closed.
